Freibad is the German word for an public outdoor swimming pool. We have one of those in Aachen in the outskirts of the city. It is a great place to enjoy a sunny summer afternoon, for students and for families.
They have a 50 m long swimmer's pool, a 5 m diving platform and a smaller non-swimmer's pool
The infrastructure isn't exactly brand-new, but I think it has a certain charm. Obviously the pool is closed during the winter.
