1. Author's Note
Otto August Ferdinand FÄHRMANN from Tangermünde, Brandenburg, Prussia, arrived on the 'La Rochelle' in South Australia in 1855. In 1877 he married Maria Dorothea PIETSCH and their children attended the Summerfeldt School. Otto is the half brother of Johann Carl Friedrich FÄHRMANN who married Johanne Eleonore LIEBELT in Hahndorf in 1854.
2. Children
Otto & Maria's FÄHRMANN's five children were:
├── Susanna Sophie 1878-1960 [m Eduard RAMM], student number 36, she enrolled on 15 February 1884, her father was a farmer on Section 344 in the Hd of Finniss which was 2 1/4 miles from the school. Susanna stayed at school for seven years until 24 April 1891 when she was in grade V.
├── Carl August Gustav 1879-1936 [m Alma Rubina PAECH], student number 48, their only child was Gustav Walter FAEHRMANN b1909 and his student number was 314. Carl enrolled on 19 January 1885, his father was still on Section 344, and he left school on 24 January 1893 with the note 'Attending German School'.
├── Emma Bertha 1881-1959 [m Theodor RAMM], student number 68 and 124, she enrolled on 27 June 1887, her father was still on Section 344 and in 1894 her number became 124 and she left school on 20 December 1895, she left after grade 4.
├── Gustav Adolph 1884-1902 died at 18 years, student number 81, he enrolled on 17 March 1890, his father was still on Section 344 and he left school in 1898 for an 'unreadable inscription'
└── Marie Leonore 1893-1972 [m Franz DAHL], student number 154, she enrolled 4 September 1899, passed group standard in 1905, comments are '?left district ...readmitted'.
