About SKID's
SKID's is a local greek restaurant branch that serves Alamance County. They serve all three meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Breakfast is served from 7:00am-10:30am and lunch is served from 11:00am till close. With three different locations, they are able to reach out to just about every individual in the towns of Burlington and Elon. The chain is individually and privately owned, allowing the manager to make business decisions that best serve their district. Only the SKID's III, on 134 W Haggard Ave in Elon, and the SKID's Drive-in, on 1610 N Church St in Burlington, are associated with the SKID's are owned by George. The Skid's chain is recognized as an old fashioned dining experience, as the atmosphere has not changed much in the past few decades and is still classified as a drive-in restaurant.
The Food
The restaurant's most famous items are it's hot dog and hamburger baskets. Both of these items can be purchased for under $10 dollars. These baskets support the fact that you don't have to spend a lot of money to immerse yourself in a nice atmosphere while having a good meal. The special chicken pie is a must when you stop in on a Wednesday night. The food is a mix between fast food and sit down - similar to Varsity Grill (Elon University) in the lower level McEwen Dining Hall next to the Communications School. In comparison, however, Skids does not have televisions where you can watch sports. Some of the different options for breakfast are sandwiches, biscuits, omelets, waffles, pancakes, french toast, sausage and ham. Some of the different options for lunch are burgers, hot dogs, cheese dogs, greek sandwiches, subs, pork, chicken, pizza, salad, desserts and vegetables (which are only sold Monday through Friday).
