Sports are a great way to get involved at Elon University. Elon offers a variety of opportunities to stay physical active and sports foster an environment that cultivates new friendships. Here are some ways to get involved.

Varsity Sports:

Elon University offers a variety of varsity sports for it's student athletes. Not all of these sports teams are available for both men and women; there are some men, women, and coed leagues. These include: 

  • Football
  • Men Cross Country and Women Cross Country
  • Men Soccer and Women Soccer
  • Women Volleyball
  • Baseball
  • Men Tennis and Women Tennis
  • Softball
  • Men Basketball and Women Basketball
  • Women Lacrosse
  • Women Track and Field
  • Men and Women Golf

Many of these  teams are part of the NCAA Southern Conference Division 1, which is an entity of the NCAA, the National College Athletes Association.

Take Interstate 85/40 to Exit 140 (University Drive). From southbound I-85/40, exit right and turn right. From northbound I-85/40, exit right and turn left. Stay on University Drive for 1.4 miles and turn right on Highway 70 East/S. Church Street. Take Highway 70 East/S. Church Street to Williamson Avenue (.7 miles). Turn left on Williamson. Follow this road for 1.7 miles. You will cross railroad tracks as you enter the campus area. Cross over Haggard Ave. (with BP gas station on the corner). The building on your right is the Koury Center. Take your first right into the parking lot.

From Interstate 85/40, take Exit 140 (University Drive).  From southbound I-85/40, exit right and turn right at the light.  From northbound I-85/40, exit right and turn left at the light.  Continue on University Drive for approximately 3.6 miles.  Turn right at the light of the intersection of University Drive and Williamson Avenue/Shallowford Church Road.  Rhodes Stadium, Latham Park, Rudd Field and Irwin Belk Track will be on the left in approximately 1/4 mile.  Hunt Softball Park will be on the right.

Club Sports: 

Club Sports are a great way to be involved with Athletics at Elon. Club sports allow students to compete at a competitive level, but are not as intense as Varsity athletics. Elon teams compete with various collegiate club teams throughout the southeast. The program is run by Campus Recreation and experienced Elon students are in charge of running their club team. Here are the 24 club teams offered:

Directions to the Club Sports Fields: 

Phoenix Club Sport Fields: From S. Church St, continue on Williamson, turn right at Trollinger. Continue on Trollinger and turn right at S. Antioch, bear left at Holt Chapel Lane, go to parking lot at end of road.

Francis Fields: Continue on Williamson, turn right at the intersection of Williamson and E.Haggard Ave, fields are on the left behind the Francis Center.

Tennis Courts: Continue on Williamson to the intersection of Williamson and E. Haggard Ave. Turn right onto E. Haggard.  Take the first right after the second stop light onto North Antioch. The Tennis Center is on the left.

Intramural Sports:

Intramural Bowling Team

 

Intramurals offers over 20 different activities on mulitple different levels for men, women and coed teams. Many teams on campus have opportunities in these intramurals to participate in State, Regional, and national competitons. These sports are offered to any students who are interested to playing in these intrarmuals. Joining these activites allows you to meet new people and stay involved without feeling over committed. There are no try outs, you just have to sign up with a specific number of team players depending on the activity you decided to do.  

 

2014-2015 Intramurals

Fall Semester: 7 v 7 Flag Football, Dodgeball, Corn Hole, Wiffle Ball, Outdoor Soccer, Raquetball Tournament, Volleyball, and 3 v 3 basketball

Winter Term: Bowling League, Arena Footnball, Wallyball,  and Team Handball.

Spring  Semester: 5 v 5 Basketball, 4 v 4 Flag Football, Laser Tag, Table Tennis Tournament,  Indoor Soccer, Softball, Sand Volleyball, Outdoor Basketball, and Kickball.  

For all Intramural Sports, the team that is interested in participating must fill out the online registration process and have paid the $20 to Campus Recreation at the Koury Center before the deadline. The payments must be paid in cash, phoenix cash or checks. You may not use credit cards.
