Crary Park is a 1.3 acre parcel located at Washtenaw Avenue at Cambridge Road. The park was donated in 2007 by the Crary family. Douglas Crary, a former University of Michigan Geography professor, who also served several years as a member of the Ann Arbor City Council and the Ann Arbor Planning Commission, bought the property adjacent to his home on Cambridge Rd. over 45 years ago, after a fraternity fire burned down the house on the site. During his tenure, he not only preserved the approximately 1.3 acres of land as open greenspace, but also provided an area for his neighbors and the public to use and enjoy. Doug Crary passed away in 2006 and in 2007 his daughters generously offered this land to the City of Ann Arbor to become a city park. On December 28, 2007, the City of Ann Arbor formally accepted this property as part of the City's park system.
The park has a sledding hill with a long run and gentle slope, which makes it a popular neighborhood winter destination.
