The Gerald E. Eddy Discovery Center is part of Waterloo State Recreation Area near Chelsea. Its purpose is to introduce visitors to "the fascinating world of geology and to the diverse natural habitats that are found today within Waterloo's 20,000-plus acres."
The center is named after Gerald E. Eddy (1907-77), former chief of the Geological Survey Division and Director of the Department of Conservation,
