Independence Lake is located north of Ann Arbor. It is the site of Independence Lake County Park, which provides access from Jennings Road in the town of Whitmore Lake.

Independence Day County Park is a 360-acre facility with nature trails winding through marsh, forest and nature tall-grass prairie. Boardwalks and the observation tower provides a unique group viewing opportunity. Independence Lake is an exceptional spring water fowl birding area.

Hit the ice on Feb. 14 for the 5th Annual Ice Fishing Derby at Independence Lake County Park in Webster Township. Weather Permitting, Adults and children are invited to compete in a fun-filled day of ice fishing. Prizes will be awarded for the "longest Northern Pike" and "Longest Pan Fish."
