After sitting vacant for several years, the Mayer Schairer Building, at 110-112 S. Main Street was impressively redeveloped. The historic building was renovated and re-engineered to support an additional two stories. The project was completed in summer of 2006, with the restaurant Vinology opening on the ground floor, Google's initial Ann Arbor offices in the upper stories of the historic building, and a home in the new stories.
The project was a collaboration between Jon Carlson of Grizzly Peak and Greg Lobdell as developers, with builder Fred Beal. Beal and family now live in the upper floors loft.
