Paula Gardner is editor of MLive Media Group's Ann Arbor News, previously known as AnnArbor.com. She's held that position since July 2012. Prior to that she was AnnArbor.com's news director from April 2011 to July 2012, and business director from August 2009 to April 2011.
Prior to the decision by New York-based Advance Publications to close the original Ann Arbor News in July 2009 and launch AnnArbor.com, Gardner had been the editor of the Ann Arbor Business Review, which was also owned by Advance. It was folded into the AnnArbor.com operation. AnnArbor.com was renamed Ann Arbor News in 2013.
Earlier in her career, Gardner had worked at the Ypsilanti Press until it was acquired by the original Ann Arbor News in 1994, and then worked for the Ann Arbor News from 1994-2000. In 2000 she joined the Oakland County bureau of the Detroit Free Press as assistant editor before returning to Ann Arbor to become editor of the Ann Arbor Business Review in 2002.
Gardner holds a bachelors degree from the University of Michigan with an emphasis in psychology/sociology.
Her Twitter handle is @PaulaGardner. She is married to John Gardner. The couple and their children live on Ann Arbor's east side, near Packard and Platt.
