Scarlett Middle School is a middle school (grades 6-8) in the Ann Arbor Public Schools, established in 1968. Their colors are red and blue, and their mascot is the roadrunner. 

Scarlett Middle School is authorized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, participating in the Middle Years Programme. Together with Mitchell Elementary and Huron High School, the Ann Arbor Public Schools offers a preK-12 IB program.






1968:  School first opened. Scarlett is opened as a Junior High School and is named after Mary Lyon Scarlett.  Miss Scarlett joined Ann Arbor faculty in 1918 and taught until her retirement in 1962.She is  described by Harold Logan, long time principal at  Slauson, at the dedication in 1968 as "small in stature, with sparking eyes and a brilliant wit..........Mary Scarlett represented the truly professional teacher in every respect."

Mr. Joseph Vachon was the first principal of Scarlett Junior High.
