The Yoga Room's owner, Christy DeBurton, RYT, is known for her gentle yet encouraging teaching style that includes both the physical and spiritual aspects of the practice. She encourages her students to take what they learn on the mat and apply it in their daily lives: such practices as loving-kindness, self-acceptance, non-reactivity and empowerment. Her commitment to helping people heal, both on a physical and emotional level, is evident in her teachings.
Christy believes there are many paths in yoga to achieving a balanced body, mind and spirit. She offers yoga classes, retreats, workshops and private instruction in a variety of styles--Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Yin and Energy Flow (a 'hybrid' Kundalini/Vinyasa class)--and urges students to sample different styles to find the most appropriate and inspiring class for themselves.
Christy's in-home yoga studio, The Yoga Room, offers a peaceful tranquility that only a private space can. An alternative to impersonal commercial studios and gyms, here you will find a relaxed and intimate atmosphere that supports you physically, mentally and emotionally. Yoga classes are small--maximum of 10 people--allowing each student to receive individual attention and manual adjustments (including a wonderfully relaxing head and shoulder massage during Final Relaxation!). Yogis are invited to stay after class to chat with fellow students and enjoy a cup of tea, fostering a strong sense of community here at The Yoga Room.
The Yoga Room is conveniently located a few blocks from Maple Rd., between Dexter and Miller, an easy 5-10 minute drive from downtown Ann Arbor. It has its own separate entrance and bathroom/shower for students' convenience. Please visit http://www.yogaroomannarbor.com for more information.
