The Yost Field House was built in 1923 for indoor track events and intercollegiate sports​ by Smith, Hinchman and Grylls, of Detroit. It was named after athletic director and coach Fielding Yost. The Field House was remodeled in November of 1973 and renamed the Yost Ice Arena.​​
