Description: Domestic Violence Program. We provide emergency shelter, transitional and supportive housing, courthouse advocacy, referrals and comprehensive counseling programs for victims/survivors of domestic violence -- women, men and children who have been physically, verbally, or emotionally abused. Our Family Visitation Center provides monitored visits or exchanges for families with a history of domestic abuse. We serve Lake, McHenry and Northern Cook counties and have referral information for resources nationwide. We are the only nonprofit organization in Lake County that provides a abuser intervention program on a sliding scale. We offer free educational and outreach programs to organizations, businesses, and churches throughout the area. In addition, we provide free prevention education to area high schools and junior highs. Costs are as follows: Sliding scale for rent at transitional or supportive housing, for services at the Family Visitation Center, and for the Abuser Prevention Program. All other services for victims/survivors are free. Annual meeting for staff, Board of Directors, and supporters held in October each year. Volunteer training sessions provided several times throughout the year - please call for details.
