Description: The Disability Services Coordinator serves as a community resource and provides information and referral on disability benefits, disability rights, community resources, assistive technology, affordable/accessible housing and transportation. Coordinates activities to ensure Village programs, services, facilities and communications are equally accessible to persons with disabilities. Provides technical assistance to individuals and entities covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act, Illinois Accessibility Code, Fair Housing Amendments Act, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504 and other disability civil rights laws and ordinances. Works with builders and architects and reviews building plans for compliance with accessibility codes. Acts as liaison to the Arlington Heights Commission for Citizens with Disabilities, and facilitates community education presentations on disability issures.
