View from the Tower (photo: [users/MicheleTobias The State Capitol is the newer of the capitol buildings in Baton Rouge. On the entry-level, you can visit the House of Representatives and Senate chambers and view art and sculpture related to the state. Take the elevator up to the top of the tower for a lovely 360-degree view of the city. Inside the top of the tower is a small gift shop and along the outside railing you'll find coin-operated viewing scopes.
Be sure to empty your pockets and totes of anything that could be viewed as a weapon. Guards at the entrance check your bags with an X-ray machine and visitors are asked to step through a metal detector.
