The Century Grill is not a standard chain restaurant, and has been independently operating for eight years now. The past and now current owner’s are nothing like the generic, stereotypical, money hungry fast food restaurant owners you may see at other establishments in the area. They are the type of people that love their city and appreciate the more trivial things in life, like bacon and tater tots. If you were to mention the name “Century Grill” to a person, chances are two things happen: blank faces are drawn or they try and correct with “City Grill” which is absolutely incorrect. Going into further detail and explanation of the location of the building on Pearl Street across from the Hyatt Regency, you can catch their attention to a known existence but never an experience. This is how the Century Grill was developed
History
The building where the Century Grill is located is now a piece of Buffalo history, on July 3rd 1901 the city of Buffalo celebrated the erection of the building. The Corinthian style structure began as a Freemasons temple, and is currently a concealed landmark. After time the location served as a livery for the horses of the carriages headed to the lakes for transport. In more time the location was occupied by the Macaroni Company. In 2003 an eclectic Buffalo born couple, by the names of Mary Beth Rittling-Bartlett and Otis Bartlett purchased the building and opened The Century Grill. In August 2011 Marybeth and Otis passed the restaurant over to newlywed owners Mike & Kelly Simpson. Kelly was a past employee at the restaurant in 2004 and kept a strong relationship with Marybeth and Otis, which guided the Bartlett's decision for the Simpson's current ownership. The “new” Century Grill is complete with a bar, restaurant, indoor balcony seating, second floor ballroom and fireplace lounge. Along with the new owners, they have created a new menu, and daily specials.

Century Grill prides itself on their unique Buffalo flare. The commentary left by past patrons shows just that. If you were to “Yelp” Century Grill, a 4.5 star rating appears along with wide-ranging comments on specialty items on the menu and of course their friendly service. These are some of the customer commentaries from past customers posted to various sites such as TripAdvisor, Yelp, CitySearch and Urbanspoon.
“This is my favorite place to either grab a cocktail or sit down and have dinner. In my honest opinion, their wings are the best in the city. The menu is full of delicious entrees from unique burgers (Century Burger or the Rod Jeremy) to Pot Roast, and a great steak. It's also in perfect proximity from downtown hotels (Hyatt Regency is across the street). I always encourage business contacts to check out Century Grill and hope you do the same.” http://www.yelp.com/biz/century-grill-buffalo
“I was in town for a convention recently and was away from my family and wanted to let my hair down, while I still have some left. We, my colleague and I, chatted with Adam the bartender for quite some time. One of the pro sports teams were staying across the street at the hotel. I had wings and they were some of the best I’ve had. I'll be back, for sure.” http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurant_Review-g60974-d408845-Reviews-Century_Grill-Buffalo_New_York.html
“The Century Grill is a GREAT place to eat. The food is awesome!!!! GIANT portions at reasonable prices. My favorites are the GIANT wings, nacho's fish fry's, and homemade soup of the day, well pretty much EVERYTHING on the menu. The staff is GREAT!!! Very friendly, and you don't have to wait long to be served. I HAVE taken my children there without a problem, as have other people I know. However, my children know how to behave in a resturant. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!! Pros: GREAT FOOD!! Cons: Needs a frozen drink machine!” http://www.insiderpages.com/b/3718718409/century-grill-buffalo
“The Century Grill is one of my favorite spots to drink and eat downtown, in fact it’s my favorite place to eat before a Sabres game.. It’s somewhat of a hidden gem, nestled on Pearl Street right across from the Hyatt downtown. There’s a couple reasons why I love this place: It is the only restaurant / bar in Buffalo I know that serves Pabst Blue Ribbon on tap, their wings and fries are awesome, the inside looks amazing, old horse stalls and church pews serve as booths for dining, the owner walks around in jean overalls.” Remember to add this restaurant to the Restaurants page.
