The City of Buffalo Animal Shelter is a municipal agency under the City of Buffalo Public Works Department. The Shelter provides the community with many services such as:

Stray animals and pets surrendered by their owners make up the majority of the animals received at the shelter. Many of these pets are excellent companion animals that have been abandoned by their owners for reasons unrelated to the pet's behavior.
