About Compeer
Compeer Buffalo is a non-profit organization that aims for good mental health. Founded in 1985, Compeer Buffalo serves all of the Erie County. Founded in 1985, Compeer of Greater Buffalo began with the inspired belief that “friendship is powerful medicine”.
Compeer matches volunteers and mentors in one-to-one friendship and mentoring relationship with children, adults and seniors striving for good mental health. In a simple way, their using the power of friendships and relationships to help those with mental health issues. The program is offered to children, adults, veterans and seniors in Buffalo and all of Erie County.
Volunteer
Volunteers and mentors become positive role models, that help build communication wth their matches. The mentorship is a flexible fun opportunity, that allows for personal, emotional and network growth.
Compeer Buffalo occasionally offers service learning opportunities for students at Buffalo State College.
Events
Monthly Compeer hosts events ranging from youth dance parties, game night, bingo night, drum circles, holiday parties, art nights, movie nights and so much more. Their events are all tailored for their different age groups and invites the community for hours of fun.
One of Compeers' popular event is the annual Superhero Race and Wellness Walk. This walk invites the community of Erie County to walk and participate, and fundraise for the focused on the diversity of the mental healthy community. They invite hundreds of people to “unleash their own inner superhero”. People came in all types of costumes and fun makeup, to bond with others and promotes the awareness of mental wellness.
