Allen Casey's Barge is a well-known eyesore on the Tennessee River floated down from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 2006 by Allen Casey, an alleged developer best known for turning a beautiful but neglected train terminal into Chattanooga's most famous tourist trap. Although Casey lured investors for his development as early as 1997, no planned hotel or restaurant has materialized. The barge partially sunk in 2011, raising the ire of locals who saw the dilapidated structure as a blight on the otherwise flourishing North Shore area, especially when viewed by all the visitors in the tourist district. Casey declared personal bankruptcy in February 2014 to avoid a lawsuit filed by his investors. But don't worry; his wife is a multimillionaire.
