The prairie is the spirit animal of Chicago. Unfortunately it's an endangered species. This is why we keep it locked up in overgrown vacant lots called prairie preserves. Some of the prairie preserves even have 15 foot tall fences around them with gates that are locked at all times. This is for extra security and higher quality preservation.

- James Woodworth Prairie Preserve (in Glenview, but close enough!)
The forest preserve is a close relative of the prairie preserve.
