The Chico Heat were the predecessors of the Chico Outlaws. They were a minor league baseball team in the Western Baseball League. They played at Nettleton Stadium in Chico for several seasons, 1997-2002, in which time they won two championships, their first and last seasons. Their mascot was a dragon called "Heater." Heat games were quite similar to the current Outlaws games, with staff members trying to get the crowd riled between plays and fun little games happening between innings.
