Interstate 5 (commonly just called "I-5") bisects the state of California from north to south and continues through our neighbor Oregon and onward through Washington to the Canadian border. It is a main artery of the state, but does not actually pass through Chico. This does not mean that it is not an important part of traveling to and from Chico, however, as it is easily accessed through nearby communities.
The most common ways to access I-5 from Chico are:
- East through Orland via Highway 32
- North through Red Bluff via Highway 99
- Southeast through Willows via Highway 45 and Highway 162 through Dayton and Ord Bend (over the infamous Dips)
