The Sierra Nevada Mountain Range a great batholith that stretches from about where Chico is, all the way down, and including, the Tehachapi Mountains by Bakersfield. It is primarily composed of a plutonic igneous rock called granidiorite. You can journey into the great batholith by taking Highway 99 to Durham-Pentz (east) to Highway 70.
