The Asian Education Media Service (AEMS) is a library of mainly Asian film and documentary movies. While it is run by the university, it is funded by national humanities grant money and serves the public rather than the university. All Urbana Free Library and Champaign Public Library patrons may request and check out AEMS items. AEMS produces and quarterly newsletter, featuring film reviews of items by scholars and film experts, to which anyone may subscribe. Additionally, AEMS coordinates film screenings followed by discussions with film makers or, sometimes, film subjects, as a part of the AsiaLens film series. This film series takes place in Spurlock Museum and is free and open to the public. For the AEMS catalog, newsletter subscription, or film screening dates, please refer to the AEMS website.
