The Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center is a non-profit organization built to foster the creation and distribution of media and art emphasizing underrepresented voices and perspectives and to promote empowerment and expression through media and arts education. UC-IMC is the fiscal/legal sponsor for the global Independent Media Center network.
The IMC owns and operates a Community Media and Arts Center housed in the historic downtown Urbana post office building. The center includes a stage, community radio station, production studios, art studios, library, and meeting spaces. Members and non members alike are encouraged to propose new programs and offer events in the space.
