"Marijuana Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share our experience, strength, and hope with each other that we may solve our common problem and help others to recover from marijuana addiction. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using marijuana. There are no dues or fees for membership. We are self-supporting through our own contributions.
MA is not affiliated with any religious or secular institution or organization, and has no opinion on any outside controversies or causes."
For those who think pot or cannabis may be a problem for them, Marijuana Anonymous, aka MA, is a 12 Step addiction recovery support group with open and closed meetings. Open meetings are welcome to those who do not have a problem with marijuana use, closed meetings are only for those in recovery (often identify as addicts).
District (D18) is located in the Greater Sacramento area and all those curious about recovery are welcome to attend. We currently have various virtual meetings via the Zoom platform and one local in person meeting.
Details can be found on our website http://www.sacramentoma.org as well as various info regarding recovery from cannabis, and other info that might be helpful for you or your loved one.
For those who have a loved one who may have a problem with cannabis use, there is a 12 Step support group, Mar-Anon where you can find community and resources to help.
More resources for recovery, support and meeting info can be found on the MA World Services site https://marijuana-anonymous.org/ online meetings
Other recovery options include medical treatment (working with a medical professional via therapy, inpatient and/or outpatient health care facilities), LifeRing, SMART Recovery, other 12 step programs, such as Narcotics Anonymous or Cocaine Anonymous welcome potheads. These can work in conjunction with programs like Marijuana Anonymous as many have found the more resources they have at their disposal the better.
There is no one size fits all approach; know that MA and the options listed above are a selection of many available. We encourage you to explore and find what works best for you.
You're not alone as there are others with experiences like yours. To share the struggles and the joy. Simply know there is help out there if you choose to seek it.
Don't give up hope.
