Flow through Yolo
Dates: June 15-19, 2020
For children entering 1st-3rd grade in the Fall
Play around with the flow of water and wind! Experiment with water and wind movement and how the fish, birds, and plants that use water and wind to survive. Make a water and oil lava tube, a tree cookie garden step stone, fish prints, and more!
We Are A Part of the Rhythm of Nature
Dates: June 29 – July 3, 2020
For children entering 4th-6th grade in the Fall
Travel through time from the days of the Patwin to the people of today, using the wetlands as a resource. Try your hand at making tule rope, pounding acorns, making a game out of wetland materials, and more! Simulate irrigating a farm and moving food from the farm to the people through experiments and games.
By-Pass the Bugs, Please!
Dates: July 13-17, 2020
For children entering 1st-3rd grade in the Fall
Bug out with the bugs of the bypass. Explore the life of water bugs, beetles, dragonflies, butterflies, and bees. Make your own butterfly sun catcher, beetle jar, and bees wax candle.
Welcome the Wildlife
Dates: July 27-31, 2020
For children entering 4th-6th grade in the Fall
Explore the life that the Yolo Bypass welcomes: bats, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and aquatic insects! Learn how to handle snakes, using fake snakes of course! Get in the pond to get up close and personal with fish and insects. Perform some new animal dissections too.
