Debbie Smith, the Whispering Smith Equestrian, gives riding lessons. She has more than 20 years of horse experience and is committed to providing a safe and welcoming equestrian experience. She and her students have shown both at local schooling and SAHJA shows, as well as higher-level-rated hunter/jumper shows in the greater Sacramento area. Debbie has also shown 2nd level dressage and has students working hard at up to 1st level.
LESSON PROGRAM:
Debbie offers all sorts of group, or private lessons from basic groundwork, longeing, and horsemanship to jumping and dressage lessons. There are horses that are looking for leases, and are ready for competitions, but are also very safe lesson horses.
Riding lessons are $50 per hour, and can be private, semi-private, or group lessons, depending on student preference, availability of lesson horses, and the abilities of the riders. Prospective students are always welcome to come meet the horses and audit a lesson.
The stables-community are a tight knit group that works together to take care of the animals. No one ends up at a show or clinic alone. Group trail rides on the weekends or after lessons are the norm. Regular field trips --to shop, to trail ride, to school cross country, and to ride in trail trials clinics-- are customary.
FACILITIES:
They are located at Willow Creek Horse Park, off of County Road 29. The horses all have stalls with 12x40 foot runs, are fed twice a day, and have their stalls cleaned daily. Riders have access to three roundpens, two outdoor arenas, one enormous indoor arena, as well as an outdoor dressage court.
