Architectural Style: American Craftsman – The home at 520 N. Austin St. is a prime example of the Craftsman Bungalow style. This early 20th style residential architecture grew out of the rise of the middle class, the proliferation of the democratic ideal, a growing interest in "natural living" and the American Arts and Crafts movement. Thus, most Craftsman homes featured large porches and pergolas as a means of uniting indoor and outdoor living.
