The Murchison Performing Arts Center, informally known as "the Murc" or "the Armadillo," is the largest performance hall at the University of North Texas. The Murchison has two venues, Winspear Performance Hall (capacity of 1,025) and the Lyric Theatre (capacity of 400). The Lyric Theatre is primarily used for opera performances while Winspear Performance Hall has been used to host the likes of Spike Lee, Pat Boone, the One O'Clock Lab Band, symphonies and orchestras. Most performances are free for students and they can receive a free ticket by showing a student ID at the box office. There are also discounts for senior citizens. Check the UNT College of Music event calendar to find out about performances at the Murchison and elsewhere on campus.
