An arms and artillery demonstration at the 2006 games. Birds of prey, 2006 games.

The Dixon Scottish Games & Gathering is an annual event held the last Saturday of each September in Dixon and hosted by the Dixon Scottish Cultural Association. The Dixon gathering claims to be the best one-day Scottish festival in the United States, and attracted nearly 7,000 visitors in 2004. Activities include Scottish athletics, sheepdog trials, historical reenactments, clan tents, birds of prey, retail vendors, folk music, award-winning bagpipe bands, country dancing, wine and whisky tasting, a rugby tournament, and the ancient Gaelic game of Shinty. A "ceilidh" barbecue dinner is scheduled at 6pm, immediately following the closing ceremonies. Dixon Fairgrounds RV and tent camping is available, with lodging discounts at participating Dixon hotels. 2005 musical guests included The Browne Sisters, Celtic BlackLyst, Douglas McLean and Peter Daldry. Leashed and well-behaved dogs are welcome. The 8th Annual Scottish Games & Gathering have been cancelled, due to the closure of the usual venue, the Travis Credit Union Park. A new location is being sought for the 2008 games.

The requisite bagpipe players at the 2006 games. So badass. A dragon sculpture on display at the 2005 games. Parts included old horseshoes, antique locks, crane hooks, and a large assortment of who knows what else. A Pembroke Welsh Corgi, 2006 games. Armory demo, 2006 games. Long live potbellies!
