The city of East Grand Rapids is a small city on the east side of Grand Rapids in Kent County, Michigan. The area was settled by the Reed family in the 1830's and was incorporated as a city in 1926.
The primary geography is residential homes, although there is a business district containing all the essential services, a selection of specialty stores and boutiques (Gaslight Village), and a world-class hospital within the borders (Spectrum-Blodgett).
A major asset of East Grand Rapids is Reeds Lake.
East Grand Rapids has a strong commitment to public school education. East Grand Rapids High School has also won numerous state titles in several sports.
