Douglas Houghton House (The Dog)
- a must for us is a pickled egg at The Dog
- some must stop places (we love pickled eggs)
- As an alum, I'm sure I'll end up at the Dog House at some point. That was our hangout in the 80s and whenever I go in there I run into someone I know.
Roy's Pasties & Bakery
http://www.royspasties.com/ (Note: Roy's is not open on Sundays)
- on the waterfront has a great view with soup and sandwiches and great looking bakery items
- Roy's pasties are very good, I place an order when I first get in town and then pick them up on my way out. They box them frozen with reheating directions. Their baked goods are delicious !
- Roy's Pasties is a must!!
- Skip the traditional pasty at Roy's and try the turkey cranberry. I brought six home from Winter Carnival. Like having a Thanksgivng feast with each bite.
- t's a nice, clean, friendly little restaurant. Seating provides a pleasant view of Portage and the bridge. I've enjoyed a couple of their "different" pasties in the past - cranberry turkey pasty and a breakfast pasty. They also have a wonderful pastry selection - which is why I was there in the first place.
- PASTY from ROYS!!!
- i want to get a few pasties from roy's to bring home!
- Roy's has the traditional and several non traditional flavors of pasties.

Hilltop Restaurant - L'Anse
- And stop at the Hilltop in L'Anse for a cinnamon roll!!!!!
- The raspberry muffins are good also.
- Great cinnamon rolls at the Hilltop Restaurant in L'Anse as well as other baked goods and jams ( they have thimbleberry and apple butter and many others ). We almost always stop on the way to or from MTU.
- At Hilltop, the cinnamon rolls are as big as your head. And special bonus: check out the giant taxidermy whitefish in the trophy case
