Monarch House Peer Run Respite is a voluntary, non-medical, overnight program for people experiencing what is commonly referred to as crisis. A respite stay lasts from 1-5 days, and guests access peer run respite support through a self-referral process. While staying at the respite, guests may choose from a variety of self-directed healing options and can access peer support day and night. Everyone who works at the respite identifies as a peer with their own experiences of trauma, substance use, or other challenging life situations, and provides support based on shared values of mutuality, authenticity, and self-determination.
Monarch House Peer Run Respite is managed by Wisconsin Milkweed Alliance (WIMA). It is free of charge for any Wisconsin resident aged 18+, and is funded by the State of Wisconsin Division of Care and Treatment Services. Individuals interested in staying at Monarch House are invited to call 715-505-5641 to inquire about staying (we cannot accept drop-in guests). A 24/7 peer support warmline is also available at that same number for over-the-phone support.
