Menomonie tends to be quiet on Thanksgiving since most UW-Stout students go home for holiday break. If you are new to Wisconsin, you also might not know that the week of Thanksgiving is the deer hunting season, which is practically it's own holiday. If you are staying in the area and don't want to cook, there are some options for eating out on Thanksgiving. Both Jake's and Skoog's have Thanksgiving Day buffets.
The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is a good night to go out to eat because likely your kitchen is a mess getting ready for the big day. Duke & Dagger, The Barrel Room, and Cell Block Lounge in Durand all had Thanksgiving Eve events this year.
Another nice option would be to join one of the local community meals listed below.
Community Thanksgiving Meals
CedarBrook Church has a Soup Supper and Thanksgiving Celebration, usually on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
St. Joseph Parish serves dinner on Thanksgiving. They request reservations, so they know how many they will be serving. You can look for more information in their church newsletter.
The Alano Club also serves a Thanksgiving Meal.
Colfax United Methodist Church serves a meal on Thanksgiving.
