Fort Point is the historical name of the point in East Norwalk on the east side of the Norwalk River where the railroad crosses. The name derives from the Indian fort later called Old Fort (as early as 1723) which had existed there before the settlement of Norwalk. The name dates back at least as early as 1695. 1
