Bay View Villa (sometimes written Bayview Villa) was a temporary WWII housing project on Willow Street between West Grand Avenue and Raimondi Park. It was built c.1944 and demolished in 1954 to make way for industrial uses.
Under the Housing Act of 1950, it was transferred from federal to local control along with other WWII housing. 1 Originally it was to be demolished in 1950, 2 but lasted a few more years. Nothing had been built on the eastern part by 1957.
Rev. Spurgeon Mayfield was pastor of the Bay View Villa Community Church from 1947 to 1954. 3
