The facing walls of Oakland High School are covered in murals painted by the Visual Arts Academy Magnet Program (VAAMP). The "Beautiful Struggle" mural features Mrs. Broussard who is a well-loved art teacher at in OHS—she's even made wikipedia! Other figures include Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, Frida Kahlo, Che Guevara, Bob Marley, Nelson Mandela, and the Dalai Lama.
On the side walls are various, changing panels.
In February, 2013, VAAMP hosted a fundraiser to repaint the mural. As of February, 2015, some tagging has taken place.
