Champa Garden is one of Oakland's most popular (if somewhat hidden) culinary gems—tucked into an inconspicuous storefront in an otherwise residential section of Ivy Hill. Serving Laotian cuisine alongside Thai and Vietnamese specialties, it was originally opened in 2006, by Phuoc Nguyen and his wife Katie.
Signature items include lao sausages, rice ball salad and larb.
In November 2013, a second location was opened on Ocean Avenue in San Francisco's Ingleside District.
Champa Garden was the recipient of the 2015 East Bay Express Readers' Poll Award for Best Southeast Asian Restaurant.
