The Woodland Park Tract is a development of 45 Spanish colonial-style homes along Fruitvale Avenue, now better known by the streets that run through it, Cordova and Castello Streets. It was developed beginning in 1936 by J.W. Scammell.

The city council approved the subdivision plan over the protests of the neighbors on nearby Pleasant Street. They wanted the new homes to face Pleasant Street instead. 2 Castello Street was briefly called Castle Drive before being renamed in 1935.

The first house was completed in May 1936. 1

The land had been part of the estate of Capt. Levi Stevens. His daughter, Amelia Stevens (Wilson), lived there until her death in 1931.
