October is National Disability Awareness Month and in celebration, Alameda County will be presenting its 10th Annual Alameda County Disability Employment Awareness Conference and Training for Supervisors and Managers . In keeping with our proud conference tradition, this year’s conference promises to be compelling, and will feature the latest developments in disability and inclusion awareness as well as cutting edge topics relevant to current workplace needs.
This year’s theme "Decade of Disability Diversity: Continuing our Commitment to Awareness, Action & Inclusion" captures our esteem of and commitment to the rich contributions of individuals with disabilities to the workplace. We are pleased to have Phyllis Cheng, Director of the DFEH and world renowned motivational speaker, Jessica Cox, as our conference keynote speakers, and an esteemed panel of cross sector industry experts. We greatly excited about this year’s conference.
Conference workshops will be facilitated by thought leaders and leading experts in the field of disability employment, with opportunities to discuss and share ideas, challenges and solutions with colleagues and conference participants.
Included among this year’s conference topics are: Emerging Issues & Innovation; FEHA, ADA & EEO Compliance; and Diversity & Inclusion & Engagement. In addition, as part of our conference day offerings, local stakeholders, supporters, and vendors will be available to present and provide additional resources in keeping with the spirit, purpose and focus of the conference.
This event is a valuable opportunity for conference attendees to increase their knowledge, skills, and abilities to hire, supervise and work with employees with disabilities more effectively. It is also designed to improve the services provided to individuals with disabilities. With these best practices and tools for creating and maintaining an inclusive and productive work environment, conference attendees will be enriched to better engage with individuals with disabilities in the workplace.
