NB: The El Cortez name was used both for the building on 38th St. and a smaller one at 176 Athol.
El Cortez Apartments are a large building at 349 - 38th Street at Manila, constructed in 1930. The building was designed by Chester Treichel for owner-builder N.E. Rockwell.
When constructed, the apartments included hardware from Markus Hardware, and Marshall and Stearns wall beds.
The 1950 Sanborn shows it having 18 apartments.
