The building that houses Jingletown Art Studios (formerly the home of the Institute of Mosaic Art) is painted bright purple, and is scattered with various multi-colored and mirrored mosaics depicting fantastical buildings, giant flowers and hearts. A recurring theme in the mosaics is the presence of eyes--the mosaics look right back at you!
There are also many mosaics in the area around the JAS building, some created by IMA artists and class participants, some not. A couple blocks away, there are loads more murals in a strip called the Oakland Riviera. Additionally, the Kefa Coffee mosaic is nearby as well.
Mosaics on the JAS Building
In addition to these mosaics on the street-facing parts of the building, there's also a mosaic in the courtyard of the building. It was created by a 2007 IMA class led by artist Isaiah Zagar. (this blog post has an image of the mosaic, and some in-progress photos are here)
