Scott Hove is an Oakland-based artist who attended California College of the Arts. He is originally from the Bay Area.
Hove (also known as M. S. Hove) paints, does murals, and creates some unique 3D art in cakes and ornate sculptures. Some of them look like bejeweled guns.
He had a show of the cakes at Spoke Art in San Francisco in 2013 and has one at Hashimoto in San Francisco in May/June 2014. He does installations called Cakeland (see more here).
UPDATE: As of July, 2014, Scott Hove and Cakeland are moving to Los Angeles:
"Several reasons. First, the building is in bad need of repair and the owner needs to invest in the space. Second, I’ve run out of space to experiment and I’m not willing to do it in my living room. Third, I’ve really hit a ceiling as far as what I can accomplish here in the Bay Area. I need a bigger space and a more intense playing field. The Bay Area has always been a good place to do art, but not always the best place to leverage one’s art career to its fullest potential."1
