Sophie Elkin is the winner of the 2014 Youth Poet Laureate Program.
Elkin is 17 and attended Oakland School for the Arts. Elkin will receive a $5,000 scholarship and the opportunity to officially represent the Oakland community through poetry, media, and public appearances.
