Tassafaronga Village is a new mixed-income housing development in the Woodland neighborhood. Built in 2010, it was designed to be environmentally friendly and architecturally interesting (a rarity for many low- and mixed-income housing developments) by the David Baker + Partners firm. The New York Times ran a story about the Village with an emphasis on its architecture and impact on the neighborhood. Here is another article with more details about the project. You can find a promotional video about the Village here.
Tassafaronga Village was originally a WWII-era project housing project. Tassafaronga was named for a WWII naval battle.
