William Stokes (c.1833 – March 28, 1901) was an architect in the Bay Area during the latter half of the 19th century.
The Henry House - Portland Hotel located at 468-482 - Ninth Street is believed to have been designed by Stokes.
In 1879 he was architect for the new Hall of Records, and supervised the construction. 1
Stokes worked with Julius C. Mathews, father of Walter J. Mathews.
Stokes was born in Canada. He married Ellen (Stokes); it's unknown if they had any children. Stokes died on March 28, 1901, at his home on Telegraph Avenue. 2
