The Andrews-Duncan House was built in the early 1870s for railroad mogul and former Confederate Captain Alexander Boyd Andrews. Designed by G. S. H. Appleget, the Italianate home has symmetrical features including segmental-arched windows and doors accentuated with heavy molding, finely ornamented brackets, and an ornate veranda with decorative posts. Inside, the home has seven bedrooms, six bathrooms and an unfinished basement. The original stable stands behind the house and retains its steep hip roof with cupola. The house is owned by the state and is used as offices.
