The Boylan Wye is a railroad junction in downtown Raleigh, used by Southern Rail and CSX. The name refers to the Y-shaped layout ("wye") of the tracks.
Multiple tracks lead away and towards Durham/Charlotte, Richmond VA/Washington and Selma/Wilson. A single track leads south towards Fuquay Varina. The Boylan Wye is well known to railroad fans, but has become more widely known in recent times due to its impact on the plan for light rail in the Triangle. The Boylan Wye is the frontrunner as a possible location for a new transit center for Raleigh. The proximity of multiple tracks makes it ideally suited, but also particularly challenging for a new station.
The Boylan Avenue Bridge spans part of the Boylan Wye.
