The Cameron-Maynard-Gatling House is a one-story, wood frame house with a hipped roof and is one of the oldest homes in the Oakwood Historic District. It is depicted in an 1872 birds-eye view map of the city. Described as both Greek Revival and vernacular, its simple design, in contrast with the neighborhood’s ornate Victorians, is representative of early domestic architecture in Raleigh. The house has been well maintained over the years and many of its original features survive. It is currently undergoing restoration.
